Quality Takes Time: 12-20 weeks from Order to Delivery

Step 1 - Design & Order

You build your piece virtually by selecting your wood, stain colors, size, hardware, and fabrics. If you have any special requests, or questions about design, you can contact us to discuss.

Step 2 - Select Lumber

The crafters carefully select the right pieces of lumber for your project, ensuring that the seams and joints will be prefect.

Step 3 - Build

Experienced Amish craftsmen and women build your piece by hand. This process takes 3-6 months, and involves multiple stages of wood selection, cutting, bending, assembly, and sanding. A final inspection is carried out by an expert before your piece is sent for staining and finishing.

Step 4 - Sand, Stain, and Finish

Your piece is then sent to specialized shops that are experts in staining and finishing solid wood furniture.  These finish shops apply any of our 50 standardized stains, known as OCS (Ohio Certified Stains) or FC (Finish Works Stains). There are multiple layers and steps involving sanding, rubbing, sealing, and baking. The final coat is a durable catalyzed converted varnish that does not ever yellow and hardens over time. It is also highly customizable, available in a large range of sheen levels from matte to standard to glossy. If you are ordering multiple pieces, we often take extra care to ensure that each piece in your order is finished at the same location to ensure complete consistency in color and texture.
